Names change

Well me and my brother share a steam account. So I actually stole his name of Ryic. Would it be possible that I use a different in-game name but keep my steam name?

That would lead to a lot of confusion. If one of you get banned the other is auto-punished.

If it ever comes to the point where you or your bro get banned we as admin treat you as one person (one steam ID) That seems to be the only option because you cannot block you brother from using the computer while he is "banned". Its a very difficult matter.

Well actually I bought Gmod he didn't.... He actually never plays Gmod but plays CS:S like once a year....

I just don't want to irritate him casue the younger to older thing... Older has powers...?

Just saying he might get mad at the tags etc.

Ow I understand. Thats fine! If you wanna make it easier on your self, modify your autoexec so every time gmod starts it changes your name to whatever you wanna be called. AND!, since you guys are not playing the sam game a ban would not affect the both of you.

If you need help with your autoexec.

Ask around. Its not hard.

Autoexec is a cfg file in the cfg folder. Its a file you can open with Notepad and write commands that will be executed when Garry's Mod starts. Their is a command you can type which you basically say what your name is.(think it was "name", not sure)

Google is your friend. Or just look around in console.

If you find the command. write the command in autoexec and then nomatter what your brother does you will always be "Choco-Taco-Mega-Blaster 3000".

Your name is whatever you write as long as gmod is on and autoexec has been executed on start (which happens automagically) to be more specific. It changes your player name not your steam name. That make more sense?
